In 2025, MSD Animal Health is making a profound commitment to environmental restoration.
Thanks to the support of our customers, SPHEREON®, successfully delivered over 60 billion vaccine doses worldwide in 2024, enabling MSD Animal Health to support the growth of more than 80,000 trees in Zambia.
Together, we can make a real difference by helping to protect the planet, advance animal welfare, restore vital ecosystems, and create brighter futures for local communities.
Join us in our mission to create a greener future.
In total, since 2016, over
200 hectares
of forest have been brought under restoration, thanks to MSD Animal Health – that’s over 2 million m².
That’s the same size as roughly 280 football fields
(based on average pitch 7,140 m²)
326 households
have benefited in various ways from various livelihood activities and agroforestry across all projects that have been supported.
More specifically…
NO TREES
NO BEES
NO HONEY
NO MONEY
14 beehives
in Zambia were distributed improving household income with forest-friendly activities such as beekeeping, which in turn reduces the pressure on the forest.
187kg of honey

Introducing Katanino Forest Reserve, Zambia
MSD Animal Health supported project for 2024-2025
How you can donateKatanino Forest Reserve, located in the Copperbelt Province of Zambia, is an indigenous miombo woodland that has experienced heavy deforestation due to the growing needs of the people who depend on it.
To date, 42% of the Katanino Forest Reserve has disappeared, and another 18% is heavily degraded. This trend is likely to increase if there is no intervention.
To help reverse this, over 6,100 hectares have been planted, conserved and restored in Katanino from 2019 to 2024 through methods such as Assisted Natural Regeneration and enrichment planting. The project aims to alleviate pressure on forest resources by introducing forest-friendly livelihoods that provide alternative sources of income through sustainable agriculture, agroforestry, and beekeeping. In doing so, more than 2,700 households have positively benefited so far from impacts such as improved food security and sustainable income opportunities.
The project also aims to hand over management responsibilities to the community, including marginalized and vulnerable groups, for the restoration and future stewardship of the forest.

Promoting Sustainable Transformation
Thanks to our customers’ support through
SPHEREON® purchases, WeForest has driven significant and long-term positive changes that have impacted the environment and lives.
Stable and Varied Income:
WeForest has been able to empower local farmers by offering training and support. With a stable source of income, the community can become stewards and take care of their natural resources and capital. As a result, these communities have gained diversified incomes, new skills and an overall improvement to their health and well-being.
Empowering Women:
It is important to note that a significant portion of people who are more vulnerable to the adverse effects of climate change as well as poverty are women. Nonetheless, with WeForest’s training, guidance and equipment, women have initiated their success with micro- businesses, such as tree nurseries, community-managed beekeeping and honey production which has allowed them and the environment to flourish.
Environmental Regeneration and Enhanced Food Security:
By actively combatting forest degradation, WeForest promotes the natural regeneration of native species and agroforestry systems that increase tree cover in farming landscapes. Through this, the local communities have better food security and access to timber and natural resources for their families. In addition, sustainable agriculture alleviates pressure on forests while improving food security, nutrition, and overall health within the community.
In summary, with WeForest and our customers’ support, MSD Animal Health has helped restore the environment, uplift local communities, and support sustainable practices for a brighter future. This collective transformation underscores our commitment to innovation, collaboration and our mission in advancing human and animal health and well-being.
