In 2026, MSD Animal Health is making a profound commitment to environmental restoration.
Due to the incredible support from our customers, MSD Animal Health protected poultry flocks with over 71 billion SPHEREON® doses worldwide in 2025. This enabled the restoration of over 165 hectares of degraded land in Malawi, helping to protect and grow over 174 000 trees, creating valuable opportunities for people and the local communities.
Together with WeForest, we will continue to deliver meaningful impact for animals, people and the environment.
Join us in our mission to create a greener future.
In total, since 2016, over
390 hectares
of forest have been brought under restoration, thanks to MSD Animal Health – that’s over 3 million m².
That’s the same size as roughly 546 football fields
(based on average pitch 7 140 m²)
16 584 households
have benefited in multiple ways from various livelihood activities and agroforestry across all projects that have been supported.
More specifically…
NO TREES

in Malawi, Phalombe district, was harvested and sold in 2025, which benefitted 193 group members (of which 134 were women).

Mount Mulanje, Malawi
MSD Animal Health supported project for 2025-2026
Mount Mulanje, located in Malawi, is home to many: the national Mulanje Cedar tree, the threatened Mulanje chameleon and local communities that live below the poverty line, all depending on the reserve for water and essential agriculture.
Despite being officially protected since 1927, this forest reserve has experienced severe deforestation and degradation. To date, 65% of the forest that used to cover Malawi has disappeared. This trend is likely to increase if there is no intervention.
To help reverse this, this project will restore and safeguard the forest ecosystem in Mount Mulanje through methods such as assisted Natural Regeneration.
Through introducing forest-friendly livelihoods that provide alternative sources of income, this project aims to alleviate pressure on forest resources through sustainable agriculture, agroforestry, and beekeeping.
This project also aims to enhance habitat resilience through community-led governance, ensuring the forest continues to sustain both people and wildlife.

Promoting Sustainable Transformation
Thanks to our customers’ support through
SPHEREON® purchases, WeForest has driven significant and long-term positive changes that have impacted the environment and lives.
Stable and Varied Income:
WeForest has been able to empower local farmers by offering training and support. With a stable source of income, the community can become stewards and take care of their natural resources and capital. As a result, these communities have gained diversified incomes, new skills and an overall improvement to their health and well-being.
Empowering Women:
It is important to note that a significant portion of people who are more vulnerable to the adverse effects of climate change as well as poverty are women. Nonetheless, with WeForest’s training, guidance and equipment, women have initiated their success with micro- businesses, such as tree nurseries, community-managed beekeeping and honey production which has allowed them and the environment to flourish.
Environmental Regeneration and Enhanced Food Security:
By actively combatting forest degradation, WeForest promotes the natural regeneration of native species and agroforestry systems that increase tree cover in farming landscapes. Through this, the local communities have better food security and access to timber and natural resources for their families. In addition, sustainable agriculture alleviates pressure on forests while improving food security, nutrition, and overall health within the community.
In summary, with WeForest and our customers’ support, MSD Animal Health has helped restore the environment, uplift local communities, and support sustainable practices for a brighter future. This collective transformation underscores our commitment to innovation, collaboration and our mission in advancing human and animal health and well-being.
